Bandwagon Christianity

The term " bandwagon" is used in several different genres. The term means a particular activity or cause that has suddenly become fashionable or popular.

In my walk with Christ, I have seen bandwagon Christianity from the back seat of the Holy Roller bus many times. Whatever popular speaker, speech, sermon, or show is going on at the time then the masses follow. "Christians" can be so fickle and unstable in their faith. Many have a shallow faith and follow what they think is part of the Christian walk instead of following the truth. They are too blind and lazy to see the truth.

Recently, a popular Reality TV personality was booted off his show for saying some controversial statements about homosexuals and blacks. Below is the link to the article in GQ magazine.

This TV star happens to be a "Christian". Not everything he said in the interview was about the before mentioned. However, He did quote scripture from  I Corinthians. Below is a clip of what he said in the interview after the journalist Drew Magary asked the following question. What, in your mind, is sinful?"

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Beastiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he says. Then he paraphrases Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

The scripture quote comes from I Corinthians chapter 6.

I Corinthians 6: 9 Don’t you know that wicked people won’t inherit the kingdom of God? Stop deceiving yourselves! People who continue to commit sexual sins, who worship false gods, those who commit adultery, homosexuals, 10 or thieves, those who are greedy or drunk, who use abusive language, or who rob people will not inherit the kingdom of God.

I wonder why the TV star started the answer to the question with homosexuality? The scripture he quoted starts off with wicked people (Church Board members, church committee members, deacons and some church sectaries to name a few), then those who commit sexual sins ( Pastors addicted to porn), those who worship false idols ( Many religious people in church today who worship the American Dream more than the living God.), those who commit adultery ( TV preachers who divorce their wives in order to get a new woman.), homosexuals ( this sin is named 5th in the list), thieves ( politicians), greedy ( Word of Faith preachers who change the word of God for their self gain.) drunks, abusive language talkers ( gossipers in the church, what about those Christian who cuss and talk like sailors, and those who have falsely accused innocent people.) and people who rob others ( Pastors who guilt Christians in giving their rent money each week to the multi-million dollar facility. Daddy needs a new Rolls) will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Immediately after this TV star's comments get blasted across every news outlet in the world,  the insulted groups mount up and strike back. Then bandwagon Christians ride to the rescue and start the charge for Christian persecution as if it is a badge of honor to wear. Many people who signed the petitions in favor of the TV Star are not even real Christians. They are part of the bandwagon or Americanized Christians that are in the world today. The TV star starts off with Homosexuality because he is like many Christians. He is afraid of his own sexuality , and he has ignorantly highlighted one sin over another. The sloppy, slobbery lips among the bandwagoniers followed suit. They did not stand up for Christ but for the American Christian idealism. ( Freedom of Speech and all that Jazz) What does our God really think about it all? ( Please understand I love being an American but I am a Christian First and American second.)

The Christian TV star talks like a sailor and says things outside of the realm of Christian speech. Many bandwagon Christians swept his coarse language under the rug because the American Christian idealism was being insulted. " Quick Grannie go get your gun! Them are fight'in words."  How ignorant can we be?

Now don't get me wrong. I wholeheartedly agree and support I Corinthians chapter 6, but homosexuality is not the only sin listed here. It is not the only sin wrecking our societies around the world. All the other sins listed are just as bad and probably more rapid in the world. Many of those sins listed are in our churches and home groups. It is interesting to note that Jesus did not once point out homosexuality as the only sin we should focus on or watch out for. He did not even mention homosexuality actually. However, he talked alot about the sin of religiousness and religious people. ( Bandwagon Christians.) He named religiousness the worse sin of all. Their is a whole chapter in the book of Matthew ( Chapter 23) that tells us to WOE and not be like the religious minded.  HMMMMM! Right turn Clyde!

Is homosexuality a sin? Of course it is. There is at least seven different passages found in scripture stating it as a sin. God's word cannot be more clearer. Jesus did not mention it in the gospels but the practice was rapid during his day. Hello, the Roman bath houses were spread out all around the landscape during that time and some sinful things happened at those places. Jesus did mention marriage and what it consisted of. It is between a man and woman and marriage is considered holy when followed accordingly to God's word.  This is not bigotry speech this is straight from the word of God. However, there is more to the Story.....

The point is that homosexuality is not the only sin we should be focusing on or singling out. This is what ignorant, satan led, bandwagon Christians do.  This is what the Pharisees did and Jesus called them out on the carpet for it.  We are called to live our lives righteously and to serve the Lord with purity. We are called to preach the fullness of his message not pick and choose which parts of scripture we want to emphasize. This is what the world does. We are better than this! Get off the bandwagon and walk righteously with the Lord.

Side note:

The Church needs to repent. We are not suffering with Christ because we stand up for an human ideal. Jesus suffered because of his message of truth. HIS MESSAGE! The complete package! If you are living righteously, with purity, strive to be at peace with all men, show the heart beat of Christ, and share the complete message of Christ then get persecuted, then you are truly following Christ. It is clear that Jesus' actions brought him more persecution than just his words.

I Peter 4: 12 Dear friends, don’t be surprised by the fiery troubles that are coming in order to test you. Don’t feel as though something strange is happening to you, 13 but be happy as you share Christ’s sufferings. Then you will also be full of joy when he appears again in his glory. 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed because the Spirit of glory—the Spirit of God—is resting on you.
15 If you suffer, you shouldn't suffer for being a murderer, thief, criminal, or troublemaker. 16 If you suffer for being a Christian, don’t feel ashamed, but praise God for being called that name. 17 The time has come for the judgment to begin, and it will begin with God’s family. If it starts with us, what will be the end for those who refuse to obey the Good News of God? 18 If it’s hard for the person who has God’s approval to be saved, what will happen to the godless sinner? 19 Those who suffer because that is God’s will for them must entrust themselves to a faithful creator and continue to do what is good.

Wrecking Ball

Romans 7:14 I know that God’s standards in Moses’ Teachings are spiritual, but I have a corrupt nature, sold as a slave to sin. 15I don’t realize what I’m doing. I don’t do what I want to do. Instead, I do what I hate. 16 I don’t do what I want to do, but I agree that God’s standards are good. 17 So I am no longer the one who is doing the things I hate, but sin that lives in me is doing them.
18 I know that nothing good lives in me; that is, nothing good lives in my corrupt nature. Although I have the desire to do what is right, I don’t do it. 19 I don’t do the good I want to do. Instead, I do the evil that I don’t want to do. 20 Now, when I do what I don’t want to do, I am no longer the one who is doing it. Sin that lives in me is doing it.
21 So I’ve discovered this truth: Evil is present with me even when I want to do what God’s standards say is good. 22 I take pleasure in God’s standards in my inner being. 23 However, I see a different standard ⌊at work⌋ throughout my body. It is at war with the standards my mind sets and tries to take me captive to sin’s standards which still exist throughout my body.24 What a miserable person I am! Who will rescue me from my dying body? 25 I thank God that our Lord Jesus Christ rescues me! So I am obedient to God’s standards with my mind, but I am obedient to sin’s standards with my corrupt nature.

Sin can become a living, controlling, organism if we let it. It builds itself like a high rise and dares the holiness of God to knock it down. The truth is. We cannot fight sin ourself or with our own strength. We desperately need Jesus to come and save us. No matter how many times I try to do right within my own strength; I always fail miserably. Jesus is my only answer and gives me the power to overcome. However, I must allow him to work n my life. I need to let him tear down the sinful walls within me.

Christ desires to eradicate sin from our lives. He has his wrecking ball and is waiting the tear down the old building and replace it with the new. Leave space in your life for Christ to smash down the walls which contain the sinful nature.

Overcoming a Pointless life

I Corinthians 15:58 So, then, brothers and sisters, don’t let anyone move you off the foundation ⌊of your faith⌋. Always excel in the work you do for the Lord. You know that the hard work you do for the Lord is not pointless.

Sometimes there is the feeling of living a pointless life or not having the notice from others of what you actually do for them. Sometimes you feel like you are being taken advantage of and taken for granted. In leadership, it is easy for those who work for you to take you for granted. The sinful nature of man has left many with a self-centered heart. People's mentality is , " Well you get paid for that. or you wanted to lead, or this is part of it." All of these comments come from selfish and ignorant hearts.

Some leaders become overwhelmed with the constant bombardment from the overly self-centered individuals. People who constantly drain life from you and never pour anything back in. I have personally made a vow to free myself from such people. I had an half-uncle who was and probably still is this way. He would constantly drain the spiritual life out and never add any value back in. His self-centered lifestyle prevented him from seeing past himself. The Lord has freed me from his constant tattering of my heart, and I am grateful. You have to let go of the distractions even if it is within your own family. You still love them and pray for them, but you have to move on.

Sometimes we allow the actions from others to drill deep within our passion causing us to feel like our work as a leader and for God is useless. The drill is allowed to penetrate  our foundation which in return leaves us unstable. Don't let anyone or any circumstance stop you from your security in Christ. Your faith exists outside of the realm of logic. Faith trumps logic and to the logical this proves their theory of God's non-existence. However, if faith lived in the same realm of human logic then Christ would be nothing more than a man-made phenomenon. Since faith lives beyond our human understanding, natural laws and thought become lower level ideas by limited beings. Let nothing stop your faith from growing and from shining brighter than the natural impulses of man.

In American Christianity, our purpose is wrapped up in titles and functions within the Body of Christ. We have told the body of believers that true ministry is one that is paid for or important ministry is one where finances are poured into. Today, there is a wall between paid pastors and missionaries and the average believer. We have even come up with an un-biblical word called " LAY LEADERS or MINISTERS." We have separated the importance of each individual from the ministry which God has called them too. If a pastor wishes to lose their job, he or she feels loss and without purpose. Mostly because their whole identity has been placed in a position versus the reality of Christ. American Missionaries have spread this ungodly truth around the world and leave many leaders in the faith feeling overwhelmed by today's economic troubles.

Your importance is not wrapped around a position or a paid job. Your level of importance is not compared to those who are paid to lead a church or ministry and those who are considered lay leaders. These are all un-biblical truths. Your importance is found and will always be found in the reality of Christ. Your ministry is not your ministry. This ministry, this message comes from the bowels of Christ, and it has been placed within us. It is like a runner passing the baton on to another. Jesus has passed the baton to us but the baton first left His hand. He owns it, and he will be waiting at the finish line when we give it back.

Your ministry , regardless how great or small, is important. Your calling through Christ is important. It is not pointless. The idea of pointlessness comes from human understanding. Faith trumps the thought of pointlessness. Nothing you do in Christ is pointless unless you do it without faith and excellence. Regardless of peer recognition, regardless of personal reward, we must never fall prey to doubt and pointlessness. Every believer working together to see HIS kingdom come! Every believer using the talents for the advancement of the message is the most important thing. Break off the shackles of human tradition and false implementation! You are set free! You are more than the sum of those who have defined you. They can't define what is undefinable! They can't label you for God has already marked you for His greatness. What you are doing does make a difference! God is the final judge, and He is proud of you. Keep pressing forward in this truth!

Swimmers not swimming

Habakkuk 1:14-16 MSG
You’re treating men and women as so many fish in the ocean, Swimming without direction, swimming but not getting anywhere. Then this evil Babylonian arrives and goes fishing. He pulls in a good catch. He catches his limit and fills his creel— a good day of fishing! He’s happy! He praises his rod and reel, piles his fishing gear on an altar and worships it! It’s made his day, and he’s going to eat well tonight!

There are many believers who are swimming without direction. They follow a man or others without thinking or having a relationship for themselves. They are like fish swimming in the water but getting nowhere. We get nowhere in our faith when religion and emotional control is involved. Fish stuck in a net who are captured by the enemy's deception, the people of God are this way. The enemy is rejoicing over this deception and laughing at his catch for the day. Woe unto fish in the net. Woe unto the ones stuck in a stream going the wrong direction. Holy Spirit is crying out for the people of God and asking for them to come out from the net. Come out and be free.  Holy ones arise and be free.

The Deception " Understanding the Spirit of the Jezebel"

Protect your vineyard! There is a new call to watch the vineyard you have been given. Protect your vineyard from the many enemies that would rob you from seeing His blessing occur during this hour in your life! These enemies include: Dampness, Robbers, Intruders, Little Foxes, Moochers, Different Kinds of Seed being Sown, Decay, Waste and finally, Jezebel and Ahab! Political structures could rob you of your inheritance this hour” By Chuck Pierce

A True Force of Evil

Matthew 4:24  The news about Jesus spread throughout Syria. People brought him everyone who was sick, those who suffered from any kind of disease or pain. They also brought epileptics, those who were paralyzed, and people possessed by demons, and he cured them all.

Luke 8:33  The demons came out of the man and went into the pigs. Then the herd rushed down the cliff into the lake and drowned.

1Timothy 4:1  The Spirit says clearly that in later times some believers will desert the Christian faith. They will follow spirits that deceive, and they will believe the teachings of demons.

Revelation 16:14  They are spirits of demons that do miracles. These spirits go to the kings of the whole world and gather them for the war on the frightening day of God Almighty.

There are dominating spirits which inhabit a city or town, a region, and a nation. These dominating spirit even find their way into the body of Christ. They control certain people and those people are used to disrupt the church.

 Dominating Spirits

 Occult portal

Baal (sometimes spelled Bael, Baƫl (French), Baell) is a Christian demon. The idea of Baal as one specific demon was prevalent in early Christianity. Early Christianity regarded ancient gods as demons (mere spirits, whether good or evil) and demonology divided the demonic population of Hell in several hierarchies. Baal also refers to various gods and goddesses who are not demons. This is a potential source of confusion. In this article, the name Baal is used only to refer to the demon Baal, unless stated otherwise.

The Spirit of Deception

Revelation 2:18-24 GW  "To the messenger of the church in Thyatira, write: The Son of God, whose eyes are like flames of fire and whose feet are like glowing bronze, says:  (19)  I know what you do. I know your love, faith, service, and endurance. I also know that what you are doing now is greater than what you did at first.  (20)  But I have something against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. She teaches and misleads my servants to sin sexually and to eat food sacrificed to idols.  (21)  I gave her time to turn to me and change the way she thinks and acts, but she refuses to turn away from her sexual sins.  (22)  Watch me! I'm going to throw her into a sickbed. Those who commit sexual sins with her will also suffer a lot, unless they turn away from what she is doing.  (23)  I will kill her children. Then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches hearts and minds. I will reward each of you for what you have done.  (24)  But the rest of you in Thyatira-all who don't hold on to Jezebel's teaching, who haven't learned what are called the deep things of Satan-I won't burden you with anything else.

The Spirit of Deception

The Church’s Condition:

They did great things for God.

They showed the Love of God.

They were known by their Faith.

They did great service within their community.

They were willing to endure for their faith.

They increased in their work from when they begun.

The Spirit of Deception

There was a tolerance for Deception.

Jezebel declared herself to be a prophetess.

She taught God’s word with a twist.

She taught the freedom of sexual sin and the eating of foods offered to idols.

The Jezebel Spirit

1 Kings 18:4 GW  (When Jezebel was killing the LORD'S prophets, Obadiah had hidden 100 prophets in caves. He put 50 prophets in each cave and kept them alive by providing bread and water for them.)

1 Kings 19:1-2 GW  Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done, including how he had executed all the prophets.  (2)  Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah. She said, "May the gods strike me dead if by this time tomorrow I don't take your life the way you took the lives of Baal's prophets.“

1 Kings 21:8-11 GW  So Jezebel wrote letters, signed them with Ahab's name, and sealed them with his seal. She sent them to the respected leaders and nobles living in Naboth's city.  (9)  In these letters she wrote: "Announce a fast. Seat Naboth as leader of the people.  (10)  Have two good-for-nothing men sit opposite him and accuse him of cursing God and the king. Then stone him to death outside the city."  (11)  The men in Naboth's city-the respected leaders and nobles who lived there-did what Jezebel asked them to do. They did just as she had written in the letters she sent.

The Jezebel Spirit’s Goals

She desires to kill or hinder the truth.

She is very religious and uses religion to snare the weak.

She will do anything to steal the inheritance of others.

The Characteristics of the Jezebel

         Seeks control through manipulation.

Her names means “ Without cohabitation”

         She has stealth capabilities.

She seeks to destroy the headship first.

She uses lust to  manipulate many.

         She is very arrogant.

         Her power comes from Ahab.

She is not always directed to a woman

She spews out the deep things of Satan

         She is sexual.

         She works through victimization.

The Deception in the Church and the World

                  I Kings 19:1-21

Elijah  had seen God do great things but Jezebel left him devastated with fear.

His deception caused him to go the wrong direction.

His deception caused a heavy depression to be upon him.

His deception caused him to think more highly of himself than he really was.

The Deception in the Church and the World

Many are crippled by fear and depression.

Many are paralyzed within their own religion or yesterday's anointing.

Many are left fighting with their own strength but never gain growth.

Many are confused and without a vision or next step.

Many young people are held down by this power as well.

Defeating the Jezebel

1 Kings 21:23-29 GW  Then the LORD also spoke through Elijah about Jezebel: "The dogs will eat Jezebel inside the walls of Jezreel.  (24)  If anyone from Ahab's house dies in the city, dogs will eat him. If anyone dies in the country, birds will eat him."  (25)  There was no one else like Ahab. At the urging of his wife, he sold himself to do what the LORD considered evil.  (26)  He did many disgusting things as a result of worshiping idols as the Amorites had done. (The LORD confiscated their land for Israel.)  (27)  When Ahab heard these things, he tore his clothes in distress and dressed in sackcloth. He fasted, lay in sackcloth, and walked around depressed.  (28)  Then the LORD spoke his word to Elijah from Tishbe:  (29)  "Do you see how Ahab is humbling himself in my presence? Because he's humbling himself in my presence, I will not let any evil happen to his family while he is alive. I will bring evil on it during his son's lifetime."

Defeating the Jezebel

2 Kings 9:30-37 GW  When Jehu arrived in Jezreel, Jezebel heard about it. She put on eye shadow, fixed her hair, and looked out of a second-story window.  (31)  When Jehu entered the gateway, she asked, "Is everything alright, Zimri, murderer of your master?"  (32)  Looking up at the window, he asked, "Is anyone on my side? Anyone?" Then two or three eunuchs looked out at him.  (33)  He said, "Throw her down." They threw her down, and some of her blood splattered on the wall and the horses. The horses trampled her.  (34)  He went inside, ate, and drank. Then he said, "Take care of this woman who had a curse on her. After all, she was a king's daughter."  (35)  But when they went out to bury her, they couldn't find any of her body except her skull, feet, and hands.  (36)  They came back and told him. Jehu said, "The LORD spoke through his servant Elijah from Tishbe. He said, 'Dogs will eat Jezebel's body inside the walls of Jezreel.  (37)  Jezebel's corpse will be like manure on the ground in the fields surrounding Jezreel so that no one will be able to say that this is Jezebel.'"

Defeating the Jezebel

Make a declaration through the spirit.

         Confront that spirit head on.

Allow God to kill her heavy influences.

Reveal who she is. ( bring her out of the stealth mode)

Don’t try to fight her alone.

         Don’t tolerate her.

         Walk in Christ’s authority

         Submerge yourself in God’s will

Stay in prayer and the word

Continually watch the gates. ( Be the watchmen)

         Stay in humility.

         Pray for your leadership.
